Capital Projects

Capital projects support the upkeep and preservation of the Converse University campus and its buildings. The evolving needs of our students and community require ongoing renovations, upgrades and expansions on the Converse campus.

Current Projects

Cudd Hall

Rendering of new Cudd Hall entrance

Cudd Hall renovations began in the Fall of 2022. Projected enhancements include:

  • Renovation to approximately 46 residential rooms and 2 CA rooms
  • Expansion of ADA-accessible rooms and entry access
  • An elevator addition
  • Redesigned flow to support community, accessibility and safety
  • Expansion of community areas including kitchen, laundry, study rooms and open spaces
  • Rebuilding of the infamous three-level porch
  • Replacement of the roof, electrical, mechanical, and sprinkler systems
  • Renovation to all exterior and interior finishes
  • Renovation to approximately 46 residential rooms and 2 CA rooms

    Projected enhancements include:

    • Updates to aging mechanical infrastructure
    • Enhanced water drainage and humidity control
    • Improving space usage to support program growth through flexible classroom design and adjusted floor plan
    • Update lighting to include additional windows for natural light sources
    • Enhanced building security and accessibility
    • Expanded gallery and reception spaces including the addition of new tiered outdoor seating
    • Revamp the overall aesthetic of the building’s interior, including paint, millwork, and ceilings

    Projected enhancements include:

    • Replacement of fire suppression sprinkler system
    • Structural repair and repainting of interior roof
    • Replacement of mechanical system (phase two)

    • The Marsha H. Gibbs Field House Expansion

    Projected enhancements include:

    Rendering of proposed exterior updates to Gibbs Field House

    The addition of a two-story structure off of the existing Marsha H. Gibbs Field House will provide: 

    • 12k square ft of space to support program growth  
    • New athletic strength and conditioning room
    • Additional locker rooms for visiting team and coaches’ offices
    • New student athletic lounge, expanded athletic communications box and new wall of recognition
    • Additional parking and enhanced navigation to the field
